We have discussed various statistical hypotheses tests. For this assignment you will be tasked with putting those skills to use and completing a formal write up. This assignment is worth a total of 50 points, which are distributed on a rubric system, identified in (parentheses) below. Read the directions below, carefully.

Cover Page: APA format, 7th edition, with the following information: Meaningful title for the assignment; Students name; the name of the University (California State University Northridge); Course name (CJS 280 Criminology and Justice Studies Statistics); Semester term (e.g.) Fall 2022; Professors name (Dr. Posey); and the date.
Font: Times New Roman; Size 12.
Margins: 1 inch.
Spacing: Double spaced.
Additional Formatting Requirements: Page numbers beginning on the first page; Running header.

The formal write up should start on the second page and include the following sections.
Section I: Introduction ( 5 – 9 sentences) (5 points)
This section should start with a bolded subheading titled \’Introduction\’.
Write a one paragraph introduction to your research project. Discuss why it is important to test this question as it relates to the information in your selected scenario. What are the potential benefits to the justice system and/or society by doing this research? Be specific.

Section II: Literature Review (5 – 9 sentences PER paragraph) (10 points)
This section should start with a bolded subheading titled \’Literature Review\’.
Write three paragraphs summarizing the articles for your selected scenario (articles for each scenario can be found above). Each article should have its own paragraph summarizing that article. Things to include: the name of the article, the year it was published, what the research question was, describe their sample in terms of participants (number of participants, gender, race, age), geographical location of the research, and the findings of the research.

Section III: Methodology (10 points)

In a COMPLETE sentence make a decision about your hypothesis: Reject the Null Hypothesis or Fail to Reject the Null Hypothesis.
Section V: Conclusion (10 points)
This section should start with a bolded subheading titled \’Conclusion\’.

(a) Is this finding statistically significant?
(b) Write a formal conclusion/what does this mean?
(c) Is it probable that this is occurring by random chance? *Hint: If you Reject the Null Hypothesis, it is probable that your observations are not occurring by random chance, if you Fail to Reject the Null Hypothesis, the opposite is true.
(d) What is the chance of error (Type I or Type II, and what percentage)?
*If and only if you select Scenario Two, you will need to answer the following bullet points in a COMPLETE sentence.
(e) What is the association type (Positive or Negative)?
(f) What is the measurement of association conclusion?
(g) What is the strength of the relationship (weak, modest, strong)?***Be sure to use the formatting template for this section as it will contain SPECIFIC information about the write up for your scenario.
Citations and References Page: (5 points) The assignment should end with a References Page/Work Cited Page. \”References Page\” or \”Work Cited\” should include a bolded subheading centered at the top. All articles included in your \’Literature Review\’ section should be listed on the page with FULL citations, alphabetically, and in APA format, compliant with the 7th edition. These sources need to be cited internally (within the Literature Review section of your paper) and externally (on a references page). Further, this page should be its own page. In other words, it should not start at the bottom of another page.
Paper Length: The completed paper should be 3-4 pages in length (not including the Cover Page and References Page).
To receive full credit your assignment should be written in full sentences, following the format listed above, and free of spelling and grammatical errors.
You must keep a copy of all written work. You must be able to immediately produce a copy of the work any time there is a question concerning the assignment or grade. To receive full credit, make sure to submit all assignments as Microsoft Word Documents or PDF’s, and make sure to include your name in the document name (for example: firstname.lastname.CJS280.writtenassignment.docx).
