Mathematical teaching often overemphasizes teaching specific facts or procedures, while under emphasizing all that goes into building mathematical explorers who have the habits of mind and confidence to solve problems they\’ve never seen before.
Francis Su, a former president of the Mathematical Association of America, wrote a book Mathematics for Human Flourishing. In his book he shares how engaging with mathematics helps to develop virtues- persistence, curiosity, imagination, a disposition toward beauty, creativity, strategization, and thinking for oneself- that are essential for human flourishing. Throughout this semester you have been developing these virtues as you engaged with mathematics!
You will work independently to respond to 3 of the following 6 virtues. Your response should include the virtue you are responding to, a thoughtful and critically considered response including any images from class or your own notes, or any other items or examples that help you illustrate your response. Each response should be 400-500 words.

Grading:
20 points per question
Response provides a critically considered, and well-thought out reflection that clearly addresses each part of the question.
Few, if any, errors occur in mechanics, usage, punctuation, and spelling.

What are ways that you can plan to engage your current/future students in mathematical creativity?

Imagination: How has your mathematical imagination been enhanced as a result of taking this class?
Provide at least two examples of instances where your imagination was enhanced as a result of the activities we completed in this class.
Curiosity: What mathematical ideas are you curious to know more about as a result of taking this class?
Give at least two specific examples of an idea or concept we discussed in this course that you would like to explore further, and describe why.
