Learning Goal: I\’m working on a geography exercise and need support to help me learn.Assignment Rational: Given that a major focus of this course is exploring the regions of the world, as well as the influences it has globally, it is important that students have the opportunity to explore topics and issues in the world which interest them. Basic Assignment: Each student will select a specific economic, political, social or environmental topic/issue that involves a specific state or region in the world. The topic/issue should involve recent or ongoing issue, should be inherently geographic in nature (or at least have some geographic element to it).Specific Assignment Guidelines: 1. Select a topic/issue that has to do with a specific state or region. 2. Identify potentially useful sources on the topic/issue (to ensure in part that you will be able to find enough information on the topic/issue to do the assignment) 3.Write a 2-3 page (double spaced) paper. THIS IS CRITICAL! DON’T FORGET THIS! Each paper should include the following: A brief introduction/explanation of the topic/issue which includes a basic description of the issue
Analysis of the ways in which geography may have influenced the issue.
An analysis of why this issue came to the forefront in this realm. Who is impacted the most by this issue? What is being done about it?
4. Adequately and properly reference the information presented in your paper- cite your sources! Be sure to include in-text reference citations (APA format if possible, but be consistent), especially for statistical data, direct quotes, policy statement and historical descriptions. 5. Turn in completed final, typed copy of the paper on the due date online via Brightspace. Be sure to include a bibliography listing all of the sources used.
