Term Paper (20 points): Paper Three is a term paper (8-10 pages). This paper will be structured as a policy brief analyzing one topic relating to this course and using the reading materials we have discussed in class (the optional reading materials are also available for this project). You should use no less than four academic sources (drawing on required or optional materials assigned in class) and one interview with the relevant authority. THE TERM PAPER IS DUE December 14, 2022, IN CLASS. All papers should be submitted in hardcopy (paper) form in person.
It would be best to choose a problem discussed in class (e.g., police use of force, police brutality against black and brown people, corruption in policing, the police state, surveillance state, systematic racism in the prison system).
What should a policy brief do?

It should draw evidence from various sources â preferably from several different areas or organizations. _x0086_ Focus on meanings, not methods. Readers are interested in what you find and what you recommend. They do not need to know the details of your methodology. _x0086_ Relate to the big picture. The policy brief may build on context-specific findings, but generally applicable conclusions should be.

Remember that you should divide your work into paragraphs. One paragraph should contain one idea. Therefore, each section of this paper will be many paragraphs.
