\”Aging From A Phenomenological Perspective\” Paper
NOTICE***(Due Sunday by midnight at the end of week 3)
This month you are to write a 1200 word research paper on concepts covered in this class. Your will engage in both academic and phenomenological research. You will interview 3 to 5 persons over the age of 69. You must interview at least one male and one female and you must interview persons from at least two ethnic groups. Each interview will include the following topics: (1)Physical health and well being, (2)Friends, Family, and Community, (3)Work and leisure, (4)Finances and lifestyles, and (5)Living environments. I suggest that you spend 45 minutes to 1 hour with each person you interview but you may spend as much time as you would like. Please show the highest level of respect for the person. Allow these individuals to tell their \”stories\”. You will gather information for your paper as each talks about his or her life journey and what life is like at this stage in life. You will integrate these interviews into your academic research and discuss how the issues and concepts covered in this class are related to each of these individuals. Provide a section of your paper on lessons learned from the interviews. This is where you will share the impact the interviews had on you emotionally and professionally.
This paper is worth 20% of your grade. As you read the text and do research throughout the class make notes of topics you would like to discuss in these interviews. Please use the APA format and cite at least four (4) sources. I have guidelines on using the APA format and citing sources posted in Student Resources for you.

There will be a 100 pt. penalty for plagiarizing. This means a 0. If in doubt, cite, cite, cite.
*Last, but not least, if you have any questions, please ask.
It will be beneficial to you to read all of the pointers below:
Parenthetical (In-Text) Citations
A parenthetical (in-text) citation is when you place the source in parenthesis ( ) right after the sentence you cited instead of waiting until the end of the paper. It helps the reader to know exactly what sentences and paragraphs are taken from particular sources.
Place the author\’s name and the source\’s date of publication in parentheses immediately after the end of the cited material. If it is a direct quote, include the page number as well.
For example:
\”Psychology is defined as the science of behavior and mental processes\” (Coon, 2012 p. 12).
If you have paraphrased the information then you do not need to include the page number. For example:
Psychology is a scientific field that specifically studies both mental processes and the associated behaviors (Coon, 2012).
Helpful Tips
Always use spell and grammar check
Make sure you indented the paragraphs (5 spaces in)
Balance. Each paragraph should be similar in length
Review the APA formatting videos under \”Getting Started\”.
You can send your paper to the Keiser OWL (Online Writing Lab) for review and to ask for help.
