Multiculturalism \”refers maintaining several different cultures\” (Yoder-Wise, P. S. 2018). This means several different cultures are coexisting together. While working with different cultures, I have explained some primary care or continuation of a chronic condition to different cultures. For example, every cultures diet is different. Some dont eat red meat or some dont eat anything but meat. Explaining the importance of diet for diabetic person with a culture of only eating wheat with no protein is crucial for their glucose maintenance. of Cross-Culturalism means \”mediating between/among cultures\” (Yoder-Wise, P. S. 2018), this is used when we are accepting other cultures and their beliefs as well as open to understand but we as individuals are not about bringing change to our own belief system. When we provide care for a patient that has a belief system in place we accept it as long as it does not provide harm to the individual. For example; in labor and delivery I had worked with some Pohnpei (Islenders) and when their child is born they believe in applying their meconium onto the sole of the feet of the neonates, this is to ward off the ghost of their past self in taking that Childs life due to envy. Transculturalism \”which denotes bridging significant differences in cultural practices\” (Yoder-Wise, P. S. 2018). This means to see yourself into the other culture. There are some cultures that only a female can be cared by another female or by their family, we need to respect that belief by accommodating accordingly.

The term \”multiculturalism\” is used to describe the acceptance of and tolerance for a wide variety of cultural practices, beliefs, assumptions, and modes of expression, including those that are specific to different racial, religious, or ethnic groups. Nurse leaders that are culturally sensitive are better equipped to provide their patients with individualized treatment plans (Sánchez-Ojeda et al., 2021). In the facility I work from, our managing director in a medical facility helps us understand the importance of multiculturalism by ensuring that all of the hospital\’s personnel speak English at all times, which greatly improve communication and efficiency.
Cross-cultural refers to a product\’s success in reaching consumers of different cultural backgrounds. To maintain successful healthcare delivery and medical adherence, nurse leaders should have cross-cultural awareness and cultural competency in order to break down cultural barriers between patients and other healthcare professionals. At one point in my life, I worked in a certain hospital, and I was able to provide excellent care to patients who belonged to cultural groups that were unfamiliar to me.
Trans-culturalism refers to a way of thinking about how different cultures interact with one another and how those interactions shape social, political, and economic systems as well as individual identities. The practice of transcultural nursing involves attending to each patient as an individual with unique requirements and preferences while keeping in mind the cultural context in which they are receiving care (Sánchez-Ojeda et al., 2021). Working in a particular hospital over the past year has taught me the importance of respecting patients\’ cultural backgrounds when providing treatment.
