Directions: Interview an older adult (someone over age 60) to learn about his or her life-span development and write a paper following the guidelines below:
Identify an older adult who is willing to be interviewed for the class project.
Use Haightâs Life Review (below) to structure your interview. Take notes during the interview. You may also record the interview with the permission of the person you are interviewing.
You may use the BioPsychoSocial Approach in writing your paper. Research peer-reviewed articles related to the biological, psychological, and sociological developmental issues of your selected developmental phase.
Write an eight to ten paper (2,000 to 2,500 words) (in APA format) which:
Describes the older adult you interviewed.
Uses the person-in-environment perspective and BioPsychoSocial Approach and explains how the individualâs personal characteristics (e.g., gender, race/ethnicity, the family of birth, community, nationality) influenced the life decisions and transitions this individual experienced.
Reflects on how information from the class is reflected in your interview.
Integrates at least four sources within the paper. There should be at least one peer-reviewed journal article for Bio-Psycho-Social.
Includes a reference list. (Not included in the page limit)
You will create an Ecomap to illustrate key systems or domains (family, societal, neighborhood, etc.) that are relevant to this person and their current stage of development. Use systems theory to describe and analyze these relationships.
Note: All details collected in the interview should not be included in the paper. You will have to be selective to make sure you do not exceed the page limit. Include some details but focus on your integration of the knowledge learned in class about theories and developmental stages. This is your time to take life span information and conceptualize with the concepts learned
